Elementary + Middle School Program
Calling all Girls! Join us and learn about Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math! Have fun designing, building, demonstrating, testing, computing, and investigating.
Five times per year (at each school), Launch STEM Careers (LSC) conducts two-hour sessions of hands-on STEM activities. The LSC initiative provides detailed mentor lesson plans and kitted materials to use in the classroom so when volunteer mentors arrive at their designated school, they can be ready to conduct lessons without spending time preparing the exercises or having to purchase materials. Some examples of these activities are: design/build/test a Mars Rover on budget; build circuit “bug,” flashlights or lighted cards to learn about series and parallel circuits; design/build/test foam rockets, etc. Together, we will build rockets, wire circuits, learn about coding, design and construct dolphin tails, and much more!!!
We began with two elementary schools in 2015, and the list just keeps growing! We currently administer the Launch STEM Careers program at the following elementary and middle schools in Brevard County:
- Cambridge Elementary School
- Harbor City Elementary School
- Oak Park Elementary School
- Palm Bay Elementary School
- Royal Palm Charter School
- Sabal Elementary School
- South Lake Elementary School
