The LSC team would like to congratulate one of our Bayside High LSC participants, Carolyn MacGowan!

Carolyn was one of only nine high school seniors inducted into the inaugural class of the Space Coast Consortium Apprenticeship Program (SCCAP). She will apprentice with OneWeb Satellites while she works toward her two-year degree at Eastern Florida State College and certification in mechatronics.

After Rita Willcoxon, one of LSC’s Project Leaders, talked about LSC during a Community Foundation for Brevard panel discussion, she was approached by the HR Director at OneWeb Satellites. He asked if she knew of any high school seniors participating in LSC that might be a good fit for SCCAP and if she would contact them on his behalf to tell them about the apprenticeship opportunity. With assistance and guidance from her teacher, Brian Callinan (LSC’s point-of-contact at Bayside High), Carolyn contacted the HR Director at OneWeb Satellites. After a 10-day trial, competing against other candidates, Carolyn was awarded an apprenticeship!
